- How To Download Internet Explorer On Chromebook
I will be getting a new laptop in the next few days with Windows 8 but I don’t want to use Internet Explorer, I prefer chrome. Can I remove Internet Explorer and download Chrome with no problems?
Thanks, Terry
Google’s Chrome web browser is now more widely used than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Edge combined. If you haven’t switched to Chrome yet, here’s why you might want to–and how to quickly switch over. Microsoft’s browsers both have big problems. Internet Explorer is old.
- No,because Int Explorer is shipped with windows(inbuilt). It is ntecessary for connecting to the web.But you can use Chrome along with Int Explorer with no problems
- You felt more reliability and ease using chrome than IE.
- If by uninstall, no. Just leave it alone and install chrome I suggest.
- Hello, you can disablel internet explorer if you like but you do not have too. You can disable it by using the 'turn the windows features on/off' located in the Programs and features section. You do not have to disable internet explorer in order for you to use a different browser. You can just download your browser of choice an install it. Only thing you have to do is make sure to set your browser of choice as default, that way internet explorer will not open as default.
- Of course you can, you can keep both browsers as well and make Chrome as default browser.
- No, You can't Remove intenet explorer but you can disable:
Try this:
(1)press F1 on desktop
(2)in search box type'turn windows features on or off'
(3)click from 1 answerread it and follow, you can also any other windows features off.You can install chrome on windows 8 and after than you can use it as a default browser and launch it in a windows 8 mode.Dell monitor serial number format. - You should never disable IE (not matter how much you hate it) because it is used as a core part in windows, especially Win8 with so much on the framework using IE..
- You can use chrome as a default browser.
- Personally I wouldn't remove IE, it might be needed some day for proper displaying and using a website. IE 9 still is the most compatible browser with the sites that are prepared for IE 6-7-8 etc. Just install Chrome and set it as default if you prefer it.
- You don't need to remove Windows Explorer. Just install Chrome and you are good to go !
- You can remove IE under control panel -> programs and features and click turn windows features on or off. From there, you can choose to un-check IE and it will uninstall. However, I do recommend you keep IE and just set Chrome as your default browser as some applications do require IE. If you are wondering, setting another browser as the default other than IE will disable the metro version of IE (it won't run unless IE is the default browser again). Oh, and the uninstall method works on Windows 7 as well :)
- obvious we can do it....!!
- There is a way for sure...
- You can't remove IE from Windows, but you can disable it and then you can use Chrome as a default browser.
- you could, but it better just turning it off (cause some windows application will affectted by it)
- I don't think there is a possibility of uninstalling IE on Windows 8. Even if there is, it might lead to other issues. The best would be for you to download another browser and make that the default one.
- only you can install safari pr any other browser and make it the default browser instead of IE but uninstalling IE is not option
- you can just ignore it by just removing it from the start menu and task bar and setting chrome as your default browser. You will never even know IE is there.
- To remove internet explorer, To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
Exit all programs.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Programs and Features.
In the Task pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
In the list of windows features, click to clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
In the window that opens, click Yes in response to the warning message. The system restarts after Internet Explorer 8 is uninstalled - Don't try to remove IE. It just makes a mess of things!
Instead, Install Chrome and make it the default browser. It will ask yo to do that as part of the install - Hi all I thought this would be the case leave it and ignore it.ThanksItem resolved
- Thankyou all I assumed this would be the caseTerry
- Removing Internet Explorer it's not possible, but you must use it to download chrome, after that you can set it as default explorer and forget about IE
- why remove? just set it as default browser
- or you can do nothing about IE and just download chrome and make it default browser.
- yeah i agree.no need to uninstal internet explorer, it can always be an alternative
- You cannot uninstall ie but install chrome or firefox and make them default browser.
- Since explorer is a microsoft product you wont be able to uninstall. And it's fair enough. But all you can do is download Google chrome from the explorer and make it your default browser. If you want explorer out of your sight just go to control panel and on the left navigation click Turn off windows features. Uncheck the Internet explorer and reboot. You're job is done.
- yes you can replace IE with any browser you like that is compatible with Windows 8
all major browsers support win 8 now . - no we cant remove internet explorer but u can use crome as a default browser and also into the crome you relaunch as a windows 8 mode.
- You cannot uninstall IE since it is a feature in Windows 8, you can turn it On or OFF
1) open control panel in Windows 8
2) Go to Programs and features
3) On the left side choose Turn Windows Feature On or Off
4) Uncheck Internet Explorer 10, wait the action to be finished and reboot- Wait I through MS was done with putting crapware in windows, that you can't get rid of without hacking.
- Windows is shipped with windows software and true many of these cannot get rid of because windows OS is designed to work with them a skeleton and windows must offer a way to get connected with outside and this will be with IE, prior windows 7 Microsoft used to offer online onecare or check update which could only be done via IE, uninstalling IE is not an option only deactivation is offered.
- Yes, you can and here is how: http://onsoftware.en.softonic.com/how-to-get-google-search-and-google-chrome-on-windows-8

- The Google Chrome Browser is the heart of the system. In addition, no 3rd party software can be used on Chromebooks. Chromebooks get their apps from the Chrome Web Store HERE And your Chromebook is the safest, most secure web machine on the planet because of this.

Some websites function normally only on Internet Explorer. Most such websites are the ones in intranet of corporate companies. If you are a Google Chrome user, you can still use Internet Explorer from within Chrome to launch and explore such websites.
To be able to use Internet Explorer from Google Chrome, you need to install an extension to the browser. Once the IE Tab extension is installed, you can start using Internet Explorer (with browser control object) without having to actually click open Internet Explorer. You just have to click the IE icon that appears next to the address bar in the Google Chrome. The icon will appear once you install the IE tab to Chrome. By default, you can use IE7 from Chrome. But if you have later versions of Internet Explorer installed on your machine, you can use IE8 and even IE9 without having to actually open the Internet Explorer. You can also open and configure Internet Options with the help of IE Tab extension.
To install IE Tab extension, open the Chrome marketplace and search for “IE Tab”. When you get it, double click and confirm to install the extension. Upon installation, you can see the IE icon towards the right on the address bar of Chrome.
To open current website in IE mode, click the IE tab icon. Google Chrome will use IE7 (unless you selected otherwise: Discussed Below) browser control object to display the current webpage. You will get an IE address bar where you can see the URL of current webpage. Also, the tab will be displayed as “IE: Title of Website”. For example, if you are using Google, it would be “IE: Google”.
To change the IE version, click on the wrench icon on the address bar of IE Tab and NOT that on the Google Chrome address bar. This will open a new tab where you can customize the behavior of IE tab.
Here, it will show you the different rendering machines of the Internet Explorer available on your computer. Select the one you wish.

You can also specify some URLs that Google Chrome should always open in IE mode. You can achieve this by clicking on the wrench icon on the IE tab (and NOT on the Google Chrome address bar). In the new tab that opens, select Enable Auto URLs. You now specify the URLs in the Auto URL mode.
You can also specify wildcards such as the asterisk symbol to denote all webpages from a particular site that should be opened in the IE mode. For example, if you add an Auto URL saying https://thewindowsclub.com/*, all URLs starting thewindowsclub.com will open in the IE mode.
